Siemens Insights Hub, previously known as MindSphere, is the industrial IoT platform where many manufacturers bring data from Siemens controllers and other equipment. It models machines as assets with aspects and variables, stores their time series and records events when something goes wrong. Machine builders use it to watch installed equipment at customer sites, and plant teams use it to watch their own lines. Reading it still means opening the right app and knowing the asset type behind each machine.
Through Agentic CMMS, Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents answer questions from Insights Hub data directly. Ask about a machine, a line or a whole plant, and the agent finds the assets, reads the variables and explains what it sees in plain language.
What your AI agent can do with Siemens Insights Hub
- Find assets by name or type. "List every injection moulding machine at the Brno plant."
- Read aspect variables. "What are the current hydraulic oil temperature and pressure on IMM-07?"
- Look back over time. "Describe how cycle time on Press 3 changed across the last ten shifts." The agent reads the time series and points out the shifts that stood out.
- Review events. "Which critical events fired on Line 2 this week, and which asset raised each one?"
- Investigate an event. "What happened to motor current in the ten minutes before yesterday's overload event on Conveyor C-5?"
- Check installed equipment. "Which of the machines at customer sites report a filter warning?" Useful for machine builders who service their own equipment in the field.
- Compare lines. "Is energy use per hour higher on Line 1 or Line 2 this month?"
Siemens Insights Hub with your other systems
- Raise a maintenance notification in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) when Insights Hub shows a recurring event, with the event history attached.
- Check whether a machine with a rising temperature trend already has an open work order in IFS Ultimo before you create another.
- Compare Insights Hub data from your newer lines with historian data from older lines in AVEVA PI System, in one answer.
- Ask for a summary of the shift's critical events and post it to the shift lead in Microsoft Teams before handover.
Built for Siemens-heavy plants
Many plants run Siemens automation on the floor and a CMMS and ERP in the office that know nothing about it. Connecting them used to mean a custom integration project. With an agent, the join happens in the conversation: the planner asks one question and the answer draws on the machine, its maintenance history and its spare parts.
Each engineer approves their own agent. Owners and admins choose which roles may use each Insights Hub tool and can block individual people, and every query and change is kept in the activity log.
