Maintenance Connection is a CMMS used by manufacturers, hospitals, universities, hotels and government facilities to manage work orders, preventive maintenance, assets, inventory, purchasing and labour. It is known for detailed records and flexible set-up, and many organisations have years of history in it. That history is valuable for planning and budgets. It is also locked behind reports that only one or two people know how to run.
Agentic CMMS gives your Maintenance Connection database an MCP server. Planners, supervisors and managers can ask Claude, ChatGPT or another AI agent about work, PMs and costs in plain language. An approved agent can also create and update records. You connect Maintenance Connection once on the Connect page; the credentials are tested against your system before they are stored.
What your AI agent can do with Maintenance Connection
- Balance the PM load. "Which PMs are due in the next two weeks, and how many hours does each craft need?" The agent adds up the estimated hours per craft and flags any overload.
- Raise a work order. "Create a work order for the steriliser in Theatre 3: door seal alarm. Priority emergency, department Surgical Services." The agent fills the asset, priority and department fields.
- Explain the costs. "What were the total labour and parts costs on the packaging department last quarter, by asset?"
- Find chronic failures. "Which assets had the same failure entered more than twice this year?" The agent groups the history by asset and failure.
- Check inventory before a job. "Are all parts for PM 4410 on the chiller in stock, and in which stock room?" The agent reads the PM part list and checks each item.
- Track open purchasing. "Which purchase orders for maintenance parts are overdue from the supplier?"
- Wrap up a shift. "List the work orders completed today, with the technician and the time charged to each."
Maintenance Connection with your other systems
Maintenance Connection holds the work. Production plans, time and attendance, drawings and analytics live in other systems. Connect them and the agent can join them in one answer:
- Check the production schedule in Epicor Kinetic before you book a PM that would stop a line.
- Compare labour charged to work orders with the hours recorded in UKG to spot missing time.
- Pull the latest released drawing of a machine from Autodesk Vault when a technician opens the work order.
- Combine Maintenance Connection history with plant data in Snowflake for a long-term reliability review.
When the history matters
Years of records are only useful if someone can ask good questions of them. An agent lets your team ask those questions in a minute instead of waiting for the report writer. Each person approves their own agent, owners and admins choose which roles may use each Maintenance Connection tool, and every call is written to the activity log.
