Geotab is a telematics platform used by fleets of every size, from local councils and utilities to national hauliers and rental companies. Its GO devices plug into each vehicle and report trips, location, engine data and fault codes to MyGeotab, where exception rules flag events such as speeding, harsh braking or long idling. The data is detailed and precise. Turning it into a maintenance plan still often means exporting reports to a spreadsheet and matching vehicles by hand.
Agentic CMMS lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents read your Geotab database. Fleet managers and workshop leads ask about vehicles, faults and use in their own words, and the agent pulls the numbers from MyGeotab for them.
What your AI agent can do with Geotab
- Triage engine faults. "Which vehicles logged a new engine fault this week, and which faults keep coming back?"
- Read odometer and engine hours. "What is the current odometer reading for every van in the North group?"
- Forecast the next service. "Which vehicles are driving the most miles per week, and when will each reach its next 10,000-mile mark?"
- Review exception events. "Summarise idling events per depot for last month, with the worst vehicles first."
- Check trips. "Did any pool car go out over the weekend, and where did it go?" The agent lists each trip with its start, end and distance.
- Find low-use vehicles. "Which vehicles drove less than 100 miles in the last 30 days?" Useful before you buy or lease more.
- Compare groups. "How do fault counts compare between the Electrical and Water groups this quarter?"
Geotab with your other systems
- Create a workshop job in Fleetio for every vehicle with a repeat fault code, with the fault history attached.
- Use engine hours from Geotab for plant machinery and odometer readings for vans, and schedule both in HxGN EAM (Infor EAM).
- Put fuel and repair costs from SAP S/4HANA beside Geotab mileage, for the true cost per mile of each vehicle.
- See vehicles from Geotab and Samsara in one list when your fleet uses both.
For fleets that already collect the data
Geotab users tend to have excellent data and too little time to read it. Reports exist, but each one answers a single question, and the next question needs another export. The agent reads the data on demand and joins it with your maintenance and finance systems, so a workshop lead can go from "which vans are struggling" to a booked repair in one conversation.
Each person approves their own agent. Owners and admins choose which roles may use each Geotab tool, which matters when driver data is involved, and every query is kept in the activity log.
