# Sortly MCP server

> Connect Sortly to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents. Find items in folders, watch minimum levels and track tools and spare parts across sites.

Sortly is simple inventory software for small teams. Items live in folders that match how you work, such as sites, rooms, vans or toolboxes, with photos, tags, custom fields and barcode or QR labels. Contractors, facilities teams and maintenance crews use it to keep track of tools, spare parts and supplies that are spread across many places.

Simple is good, until there are hundreds of folders. Finding the spare pump seal or the borrowed torque wrench means scrolling and guessing which van it went into. An AI agent connected through Agentic CMMS can search Sortly by name, tag or field and answer in plain language, and it can check your maintenance and fleet systems in the same reply.

## What your AI agent can do with Sortly

- **Find an item.** "Where is the thermal imaging camera, and when was it last moved?"
- **Check a van's stock.** "What is in Van 3's folder, and which items are below their minimum?"
- **Search by tag.** "List every item tagged calibration-due."
- **Move an item.** "Move the pipe threader from the workshop folder to the Riverside site folder."
- **Update a quantity.** "We used four cartridge filters at Block C, take them off the stock."
- **Read custom fields.** "Which ladders have an inspection date older than six months?"
- **Plan a reorder.** "Give me a list of supplies below minimum across all folders, with the supplier from the notes."

## Sortly with your other systems

Tools and parts in Sortly support work tracked elsewhere. These connections tie them together.

- Check that the parts named on a [Limble CMMS](/integrations/limble-cmms) or [MaintainX](/integrations/maintainx) work order are in the van that is going to the job.
- Match each van folder in Sortly with the vehicle and its service record in [Fleetio](/integrations/fleetio).
- Flag test equipment overdue for calibration before a [SafetyCulture](/integrations/safetyculture) inspection that depends on it.
- On a construction site run in [Procore](/integrations/procore), list the tools and materials Sortly shows at that site.

## Built for crews on the move

Sortly works best for teams that are rarely at a desk. The agent fits that: a technician can ask from a phone where something is or log what they used, without opening folders one by one.

The agent can also list every tool still sitting in the folder of a site that closed last week, so tools come back before they are written off. It reads the notes and photos on an item too, which helps a new starter pick the right part. Because folders can mirror vans, rooms or projects, one question can cover the whole company.

Each person approves their own agent with read-only or read and write access. Owners and admins choose which roles may move items or change quantities, and every call goes into the activity log.

## Questions and answers

### Can an AI agent tell me where a tool is in Sortly?

Yes. Ask for an item by name, tag or custom field and the agent tells you which folder it is in, the quantity and any notes your team added.

### Can Claude update quantities in Sortly?

With read and write access and a role that allows it, the agent can change an item's quantity or move it to another folder, for example from the van to the workshop.

### Which Sortly items fall below their minimum level?

The agent reads the minimum levels your team has set and lists the items under them, grouped by folder, so you can reorder in one go.
