# SAP ECC MCP server

> Connect SAP ECC to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents. Ask about stock, purchasing, PM orders and costs in plain language, without transaction codes.

SAP ECC still runs the factories, warehouses and finance teams of many large organisations. It covers materials management, production planning, plant maintenance, sales and distribution, and financial accounting with controlling. After years of use it holds a deep history of every order, every movement and every repair. The catch is access: answers sit behind transaction codes, custom reports and SAP GUI screens that only a few experienced people can use with confidence.

Agentic CMMS puts an AI agent in front of that history. Your engineers, buyers and controllers ask Claude or ChatGPT what they need to know, and the agent reads ECC for them. Nobody has to remember whether the answer is in IW39, ME2N or a Z-report written ten years ago.

## What your AI agent can do with SAP ECC

- **Read the maintenance history.** "Show every PM order closed on equipment 10002231 in the last two years, with the activity types." The agent lists dates, work centres and actual costs.
- **Check open purchase orders.** "Which purchase orders for vendor 300145 are overdue for delivery?" It reads schedule lines and goods receipts and flags the late items.
- **Find a spare part.** "Do we stock the impeller for the P-104 pump, and which storage location holds it?" The agent searches material descriptions and returns stock by plant and location.
- **Explain a variance.** "Why is the actual cost of internal order 600123 higher than the plan?" You get the postings grouped by cost element.
- **Look up a bill of materials.** "Which components go into assembly 2000-450, and are any of them blocked?"
- **Summarise notifications.** "Group last month's breakdown notifications by cause code for the packing hall."
- **Compare plants.** "How does stock of hydraulic oil compare between plants 1000 and 2000?"
- **Track a sales order.** "Has sales order 12345 been delivered and invoiced?"

## SAP ECC with your other systems

ECC often holds the core records while newer tools hold the rest. With them connected, one question covers both:

- Set ECC master data against the target in [SAP S/4HANA](/integrations/sap-s-4hana) during a migration and list materials with different units or plants.
- Link an IT incident in [ServiceNow](/integrations/servicenow) to the ECC production order it held up, so the plant knows the real impact.
- Check figures from the ECC tables you copy to [Snowflake](/integrations/snowflake) against the live system when a report looks wrong.
- Feed a question from a [Microsoft Power BI](/integrations/microsoft-power-bi) maintenance dashboard back into ECC to see the orders behind a number.

## Getting more from the system you already have

You do not need to finish a migration to give your people better access to ECC. An agent works with the data and customisation you have today, including fields your team added over the years. Use a dedicated SAP user with the authorisations you want the agent to have. Nobody gets an agent by default: each engineer or buyer approves one with their own login, owners and admins grant each tool to chosen roles, and the activity log records every request for audit.

## Questions and answers

### Does an AI agent work with an older SAP ECC system?

Yes. Agentic CMMS connects to your ECC system with a technical or named SAP user, and the agent asks for data through that connection. Your users do not need new SAP screens.

### Do my planners still need to know transaction codes?

No. They ask in plain language, such as "show the open orders on this equipment", and the agent finds the right records. People who like their transaction codes can keep using them.

### Is an AI agent useful if we are moving from ECC to S/4HANA?

Yes. The agent can compare master data, open orders and stock between the two systems while both run, which helps your team spot gaps before cut-over.
