> Connect Samsara to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents. Ask about engine hours, fault codes, DVIRs and sensor alerts, and plan service from them.

Samsara connects vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment and sites to one cloud platform. Its gateways report location, engine hours, odometer and fault codes. Drivers complete DVIRs in the Samsara app, and environmental sensors watch temperature and humidity in cold rooms, trailers and plant areas. Construction, utilities, food distribution and field service companies run large parts of their operation on it. With so much data in one place, the hard part is getting the one answer you need without clicking through vehicle after vehicle.

Agentic CMMS lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents read your Samsara organisation. Fleet managers, maintenance planners and site managers ask in plain words and get answers built from live telematics and sensor data.

## What your AI agent can do with Samsara

- **Find vehicles with faults.** "Which trucks have an active engine fault code, and what does each code mean?"
- **Review DVIRs.** "List every inspection from this week that reported a defect, and which ones are still not resolved."
- **Plan by usage.** "Which excavators are within 50 engine hours of their next service?"
- **Watch the cold chain.** "Did any refrigerated trailer go above 5 °C overnight, and for how long?"
- **Check equipment use.** "How many hours did each generator on the Bristol site run last week?" Useful when you hire or share equipment.
- **Locate a vehicle.** "Where is van 214 now, and when did it last stop at the depot?"
- **Monitor plant rooms.** "Which sensors in our plant rooms report high humidity right now?" The agent lists each sensor with its location and the time the reading crossed your limit.

## Samsara with your other systems

- Turn DVIR defects into repair work orders in [Fleetio](/integrations/fleetio) or [Fiix](/integrations/fiix), with the driver's notes and the vehicle's odometer.
- Compare a technician's van location with the next job in [ServiceTitan](/integrations/servicetitan) to see who can reach an urgent call first.
- Plan service for mixed equipment by engine hours in Samsara and preventive schedules in [MaintainX](/integrations/maintainx), in one list.
- See vehicles from Samsara and [Geotab](/integrations/geotab) side by side when different divisions use different providers.

## One platform, two kinds of maintenance

Samsara covers both the road and the yard: vehicles and drivers on one side, fixed equipment and sensors on the other. Most tools treat these as separate worlds. The agent works with both, so the same planner can ask about a truck's fault code and a freezer's temperature in one conversation, and plan the work for each in the right system.

Each person approves their own agent with their own login. Owners and admins decide which roles may use each Samsara tool, for example keeping vehicle location with dispatch and fleet managers, and every request is written to the activity log.

## Questions and answers

### Can Claude see fault codes from our Samsara vehicles?

Yes. The agent lists active engine fault codes per vehicle with their description and when they appeared, so a fleet manager can see which trucks need a workshop slot.

### Can an AI agent read Samsara temperature sensors?

Yes. It reads the environmental sensors you have installed, such as temperature and humidity monitors in cold rooms and refrigerated trailers, and tells you which ones are out of range.

### How does an agent plan service from Samsara data?

It reads odometer and engine hours for each vehicle or machine and compares them with your service intervals. With write access, it then creates the work orders in your CMMS.
