> Connect Plex to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents. Ask about production, containers, part numbers, quality checks and supply in plain language.

Plex is a cloud manufacturing platform that combines ERP with manufacturing execution and quality management. Automotive suppliers, food and beverage producers, plastics moulders, metal formers and aerospace parts makers use it to track production, inventory, quality and supply in real time, often down to the container and serial number. Plex captures data straight from the shop floor. The challenge is pulling a clear answer out of it when a line goes down or a customer calls about a bad part.

Agentic CMMS hooks Plex up to Claude, ChatGPT and other agents. A plant manager, a quality engineer or a supply chain lead asks in everyday words, and the agent digs the facts out of Plex. The answer arrives in seconds, with the containers, jobs and checks behind it.

## What your AI agent can do with Plex

- **Explain downtime.** "Why was press line 4 down for two hours on the night shift, and what reasons did the operators record?"
- **Trace a container.** "Which customer shipments contained parts from container 1189042?"
- **Check production.** "How many good and scrap parts did the moulding cells produce yesterday, by part number?"
- **Review quality checks.** "Which control plan checks failed on part 54-8810 this week, and on which workcenter?"
- **Look up inventory.** "How many containers of resin are on hand, and which ones are on hold?"
- **Follow supply.** "Which purchase orders for steel coil are late, and which jobs do they affect?"
- **Prepare for a customer call.** "Summarise everything we shipped to Lakeshore Motors last week, with any open quality issues."
- **See the schedule.** "Which jobs are scheduled on workcenter 210 tomorrow, and are the materials staged?"

## Plex with your other systems

Plex sees production as it happens. Other systems see the machines, the risks and the people. Connect them for full answers:

- Compare Plex downtime on a workcenter with the open and recent work orders for the same machine in [Fiix](/integrations/fiix).
- Read live tag values from [Ignition](/integrations/ignition) beside Plex scrap counts to find the process change behind a quality issue.
- See whether [Augury](/integrations/augury) has flagged a machine on the Plex schedule for that line.
- Link a corrective action in [ETQ Reliance](/integrations/etq-reliance) to the Plex containers and serials it covers.

## For plants that run in real time

On a busy shop floor, the right answer at the right minute saves a shift. An agent gives supervisors and engineers that answer from the device in their hand, without another screen to learn. Engineers spend their time fixing the cause instead of collecting the evidence, and the morning tier meeting starts from facts the whole team can check. Agents need personal approval, owners and admins assign tools to roles, and a tamper-evident log of every call is ready for customer and quality audits.

## Questions and answers

### Can Claude tell me why a Plex workcenter is down?

Yes. The agent reads the workcenter status and the downtime reasons recorded in Plex, and can compare them with maintenance data from a connected CMMS.

### Can an AI agent trace a Plex container to a customer shipment?

Yes. Ask about a container or serial, and the agent follows it through production and shipping to show where the parts went.

### Can ChatGPT record a quality issue in Plex?

With write access and a tool your admins allow, the agent can record the details you give it. Most plants start read-only and add write tools later.
