Intercom is a customer service platform built around conversations. Customers write in through the messenger on your website or app, by email or by other channels, and your team answers in a shared inbox, with tickets for issues that take longer and a Help Center for self-service. Software companies started with it, and many hardware, property and service businesses use it too. When a customer reports a fault with a device or a building, the conversation is where they wait for news.
Agentic CMMS lets Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents read and act on Intercom, and on the systems where your repair work happens. Your team can go from "my unit has stopped working" to a booked repair and a reply in the same thread.
What your AI agent can do with Intercom
- Scan the inbox. "Which open conversations from the last day report a device fault?"
- Get the customer's history. "What has Acme Foods talked to us about this quarter, and is anything still open?"
- Create tickets. "Turn this conversation about the faulty sensor into a ticket for the hardware team."
- Reply to the customer. "Tell Jo that the replacement unit ships tomorrow and arrives by Thursday."
- Add notes for the team. "Leave a note that this customer is on the priority support plan."
- Tag and assign. "Tag the three conversations about the gateway going offline and assign them to Sam."
- Find articles. "Which Help Center article explains how to reset the gateway? Send it to the customer."
- Measure waiting time. "Which conversations have waited longest for a first reply today?" The agent ranks them and shows the customer, the topic and the teammate assigned.
- Follow up after a repair. "Which customers had a repair visit this week but no message from us since?"
Intercom with your other systems
- Book a technician in ServiceTitan from a customer conversation, and reply with the arrival window.
- Open a work order in Limble CMMS for a fault in a building you manage, and post its status back to the conversation.
- Check the customer's deal and contract in HubSpot before you agree to a replacement.
- Share a list of conversations waiting more than a day with the support lead in Slack.
Where the customer already is
Customers prefer to stay in the chat they started, not phone a different team or fill in another form. The agent keeps the repair and the conversation together: it reads what the customer said, creates the job where your technicians work and brings the answer back to the thread.
Each person approves their own agent. Owners and admins decide which roles may reply to customers, and every message the agent sends is recorded in the activity log.
