> Connect Autodesk Vault to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI agents to find released drawings, revisions and where-used data for the parts your team maintains.

Autodesk Vault is where design and manufacturing engineers manage their CAD data: Inventor models, AutoCAD drawings, revisions, lifecycle states and the links between parts and assemblies. It keeps engineering under control. For the maintenance team down the corridor, though, it can feel closed. They need the released drawing of a worn bracket or the revision that matches the machine on the floor, and they do not use the Vault client every day.

So they ask an engineer, or they print an old copy from a shared folder. Agentic CMMS connects Autodesk Vault to Claude, ChatGPT and the other AI agents your team uses. A fitter or planner can ask for a drawing in plain language and get the released revision, without learning the Vault client.

## What your AI agent can do with Autodesk Vault

- **Get the released drawing.** "Find the released drawing for the guide rail bracket on the case packer." The agent searches by title and part number and returns the released revision.
- **Check the revision history.** "What changed between revision C and revision D of the conveyor drive shaft?" The agent reads the history and the change notes on each revision.
- **Find where a part is used.** "Which assemblies use the 40 mm idler roller?" The agent follows where-used links, so you know every machine a spare part fits.
- **Read part properties.** "What material and finish does the drawing for part 10-4471 specify?" The agent reads the file properties and title block data.
- **Spot unreleased work.** "Are there drawings for the palletiser that are still work in progress?" The agent filters on lifecycle state.
- **Check a change order.** "Is there an open change order on the filler star wheel?" The agent finds the change order and tells you its state and owner.
- **Collect a spares pack.** "List the released drawings for all wear parts on Line 1." The agent gathers the files so a supplier can quote from the correct revision.

## Autodesk Vault with your other systems

Drawings explain how a machine is built. Your maintenance and ERP systems record how it is kept running. Connect them together:

- Attach the released drawing from Vault to a work order in [Fiix](/integrations/fiix) or [HxGN EAM](/integrations/hxgn-eam) when a part must be made or replaced.
- Compare the part number on a drawing with the item and current stock in [Epicor Kinetic](/integrations/epicor-kinetic) or [Plex](/integrations/plex) before you reorder.
- Tell the engineering channel in [Microsoft Teams](/integrations/microsoft-teams) when maintenance finds a part that differs from its released drawing.

## The right revision, at the machine

When a spare part is made from the wrong revision, it costs a second breakdown. The agent always states the revision and lifecycle state it used, so the person at the machine can trust the drawing. Each person approves their own agent, owners and admins choose which roles may use each Vault tool, and every lookup is written to the activity log.

## Questions and answers

### Can Claude find the released revision of a drawing in Autodesk Vault?

Yes. The agent searches by part number, title or properties and returns the file in its released lifecycle state, with its revision, so a work-in-progress drawing is never mistaken for the real one.

### Can an AI agent check out or change CAD files in Vault?

The agent reads files, properties and history. Design changes stay in your CAD tools, so engineers keep full control of check-out and release.

### Can maintenance staff use Vault through an AI agent without a CAD licence?

They can ask the agent for drawings, revisions and part details in plain language, and get a link or a summary back. Your Vault licensing terms still apply to how you set up the connection.
